Eventide Terms of Use

These Terms of Use ("Terms") are an agreement between you and Kiryl Zhukouski, an independent developer ("Eventide," "we," "us"), governing your use of the Eventide iOS application and related services (the "Service"). By using the Service you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

Eventide is a spiritual companion app: a Bible reader (King James Version and World English Bible), a daily reading, a prayer journal, mood notes, breathing practices, reading plans, and an AI Companion that offers written reflections and cites the scripture it references.

Eventide offers spiritual reflection and scripture reading. It is not medical care, mental-health care, counseling, or professional advice of any kind, and it is not a substitute for any of those. The AI Companion is a software system, not a pastor, chaplain, or therapist.

If you are in crisis or thinking about harming yourself, do not rely on this app. In the United States, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline). If you are in immediate danger, call your local emergency number. For domestic violence support in the United States, call the National Domestic Violence Hotline at 1-800-799-7233.

Reflections from the Companion are generated by artificial intelligence. They may be incomplete, imprecise, or wrong. The Companion is designed to cite a reference for every verse it quotes so you can read the passage in context yourself; always verify scripture against the text itself. The Companion's words are a reflection to read alongside your own translation and your own community, not a final word and not doctrine.

You may use parts of the Service without creating an account. Some features (including the Companion) require a session, which may be an anonymous session created automatically or an account you create with an email address. You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure. You must be at least 13 years old (or the minimum age of digital consent in your country) to create an account.

The scripture is free: both translations, search, verse sharing, and on-device read-aloud of any chapter, with no payment required. The free tier also includes the daily reading, sampler reading plans, one journal entry and one mood note per day, and a limited weekly allowance of Companion interactions.

Eventide + is an auto-renewing subscription that unlocks the unlimited Companion, the full library of reading plans, the Companion's margin notes inline in the chapter, an unlimited journal, unlimited history, and verse-share card themes.

Payment is charged to your Apple Account at confirmation of purchase (or at the end of the free trial unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it ends). Subscriptions renew automatically unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel in your device Settings under your Apple Account, Subscriptions. Amounts already paid are not refunded when you cancel; access continues until the end of the paid period. Prices may vary by region and may change with notice. Purchases, billing, and refunds are handled by Apple; refund requests go through Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. The app's software license is Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement (Standard EULA), available at apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula.

Your journal entries, mood notes, highlights, bookmarks, and saved verses are yours. We claim no ownership of them. They are stored on your device and, when iCloud is available, in your private iCloud database (see the Privacy Policy). Deleting the app or disabling analytics does not delete iCloud data; you can remove synced data by deleting the app's data from your iCloud storage settings.

You agree not to: use the Service to generate or spread harmful, harassing, or unlawful content; attempt to break, probe, or overload the Service or its AI safeguards; reverse-engineer the app except where the law permits; or resell or scrape the Service. We may suspend or terminate access that violates these Terms or that we reasonably believe harms the Service or other users.

The Eventide name, app design, and original content are the property of Kiryl Zhukouski. The King James Version and the World English Bible are in the public domain. All third-party materials remain the property of their respective owners.

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for loss of data, arising from your use of the Service. Where liability cannot be excluded, it is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the claim.

We may update the Service and these Terms. Material changes will be posted here with a new effective date; continued use after changes means acceptance. You may stop using the Service at any time. We may discontinue the Service with reasonable notice.

These Terms are governed by the laws of Poland, excluding its conflict-of-law rules. Nothing in these Terms limits mandatory consumer protections in your country of residence.
