Eventide Support & FAQ
// frequently asked
Who is Eventide for?
The thinking reader of faith who wants scripture, prayer, and rest in one considered place — without a feed, a streak, or a youth-group aesthetic. All traditions of the Christian faith are welcome; we take no denominational or political sides, and doubt is treated as part of the practice, not a problem to solve.
Which translations are included, and do they cost anything?
The King James Version and the World English Bible, both free — along with search, verse sharing, and on-device read-aloud of any chapter. The scripture is free, all of it; we do not paywall the canon. More translations are on the way.
What does the AI Companion do, and can I trust it?
Ask it a question about a passage and it responds in considered prose, citing a reference for every verse it quotes so you can read the passage yourself in the Library. It is designed not to invent verses, and when it does not know, it says so. It is helpful, not pastoral: for real spiritual or mental-health concerns it will point you toward a trained human. Always verify scripture against the text itself.
Where is the Companion processed?
To generate a reflection, your message and your reading preferences are sent over an encrypted connection to our server function and then to our AI provider (OpenAI). That is the only content that leaves your device besides account sign-in. Your journal, prayers, and mood notes are never sent to the AI. Per our provider's API terms, your messages are not used to train their models.
How is my journal kept private?
Your journal, mood notes, highlights, bookmarks, and saved verses are stored on your device and, when you are signed into iCloud, sync to your private iCloud database (Apple CloudKit). That database belongs to your Apple Account; we cannot read it, and we run no server that stores that content. Read the privacy policy for the full picture.
Do I need an account?
Not for most of the app. Some features, including the Companion, require a session — that can be an anonymous guest session created automatically, or an account you make with an email address. Onboarding can be skipped.
What does Eventide + unlock, and what does it cost?
The unlimited Companion, all thirty-three guided reading plans, the Companion's reflections inline in the chapter, an unlimited journal and history, and verse-share card themes. Annual is $54.99 with a 14-day free trial for new subscribers; Monthly is $9.99 with no trial. The free reader tier stays complete for daily reading.
How do I cancel or restore a subscription?
On your iPhone: Settings → Apple Account (your name at the top) → Subscriptions → Eventide. Cancellation takes effect at the end of the current billing period; you keep Eventide + until then. To restore a previous purchase, open the paywall and choose "Restore" while signed in to the same Apple Account. Refunds are handled by Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Does the Companion give medical or mental-health advice?
No. Eventide offers spiritual reflection and scripture reading — it is not medical care, mental-health care, counseling, or professional advice, and it is not a substitute for any of those. If you are in crisis, call or text 988 (Suicide and Crisis Lifeline) in the US, or your local emergency number. For domestic violence support in the US, call 1-800-799-7233.
How do I delete my data or my account?
Most data you can view and delete directly in the app or in your iCloud settings — deleting the app removes on-device data, and you can remove synced data from your iCloud storage settings. To delete your account and associated authentication data, email kirylapps@gmail.com and we will respond within 30 days.
